BSPP meeting in Brussels (May 3rd – 4th, 2018)

On May 3rd and 4th, 2018 the Palace of the Academies (Brussels, Belgium) hosted the joint meeting of the BSPP, ISP, BAVP and EVPC entitled ‘Advances in Parasitology – Looking Back to Move Forward’. Specifically in view of the BSPP (Belgian Society of Parasitology and Protistology) Paragone-member Jimmy Borloo presented the status and ongoing work on the activation-associated secreted proteins (ASP)-based vaccines against Cooperia oncophora and Ostertagia ostertagi. The presentation particularly focused on the structural differences between endogenous ASPs and their recombinant counterparts, and how insights in these may ultimately lead to optimised recombinant ASPs that yield protection against the aforementioned cattle-infecting parasites.
