My name is Raúl Pérez Caballero (BVM, MVSc) and I am a veterinary surgeon and young research at Veterinary Faculty of Córdoba (Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases Unit). Over the last three years, I have been involved in different activities. I have attended three workshops related to the vaccinology and immunological aspects in parasite infections in ruminants: “European Veterinary Vaccinology Workshop” (Ghent, Belgium), “Workshop on Immunological Tools and Livestock Infection Models” (Gran Canarias, Spain) and “NGS Workshop II. RNA-Seq-Differential Gene Expression Analysis” (Córdoba, Spain). I have also taken part in the “PARAGONE Consortium Meeting III” taken place in Córdoba. However, I would clearly highlight the four-month stay I have done in the MRI under the supervision of Tom McNeilly and Yolanda Corripio-Miyar. The aim of the project was to analyse the response of hepatic lymph nodes and PBMC of Fasciola hepatica infected sheep to the exposure of different antigens of this trematode. This study was conducted through specific techniques as antigen presentation assay, flow cytometry, antigenic stimulation assay and ELISA for measurement of cytokines and immunoglobulins. As a result of this stay, a paper with very interesting data is being written and will be published next year.
