My main research interest is the control of gastrointestinal parasites in cattle, including vaccine development. Our vaccine research during the past two decades, thanks to EU funding and collaboration with our industry partners, has resulted in experimental vaccines against two of the most important GI nematodes in cattle. Our research in PARAGONE will hopefully lead to novel recombinant vaccines that are as effective as our experimental ‘original’ vaccines.

As a veterinarian, I’m looking forward to apply our vaccines in ‘real life’ conditions. Using a holistic approach, we’ll integrate vaccination into tailor-made parasite control strategies, including sustainable use of anthelmintics and decision support tools. Our ultimate goal is to incorporate sustainable parasite control into the entire farm management, thereby improving both profitability and sustainability of dairy farming.
